iTunes Feed Problem fixed!

**Update**

I just updated by subscription to the Sound of the Day podcast in iTunes and the missing shows are now available! I still don't know what went wrong, but I'll keep a closer eye on future posts to make sure they are available via iTunes.

=----------------------=

I have gone through each of the "missing" shows from the iTunes music store, moved data around and put it back in place to see if this feed just needed someone to kick the tires and get it back online. Now all the enclosures are showing up in the Feedburner feed, so I think it might have worked.

The iTunes music store listings have not updated as of this writing, but I'm hoping it will be fixed soon.

Thanks for your patience during this period of growing pains.

iTunes Podcast Latency

For some reason unknown to me, the iTunes feed for the Sound of the Day has not updated since the 5th of July. As you can see, the RSS feed for this show and this blog page have been updated every day. I'm not sure why they are no longer updating my feed, but I have contacted them to see why this has happened. Most likely, there's something on their end that is causing this since nothing has really changed on or around the 5th on my side.

Rest assured I'll be working to get this fixed ASAP and will update this page as soon as I can tell things are back to normal.

*Update* It seems that Feedburner's translation of the atom feed produced by Blogspot.com is not seeing the enclosures after the 5th of July. The atom feed seems fine, but the enclosures that should be in the Feedburner XML simply are not there. I haven't been doing anything differently, so I can't exactly explain this problem, but I've reported the issue to Feedburner and asked them to look into it.

Archived Sounds Gone... for a little bit.

We're quickly running out of space for the archives of sounds. In fact, we're over our limit right now and needed to remove old sounds from the site. As a result, all sounds from 2004 and the first two months of 2005 are now offline.

The good news is that they will be back soon. The plan at this point is to make a flash-based soundboard for playing the sounds and themes for all archived Sound of the Day podcasts. Hopefully this will be available by late June.

In the mean time, if you have a specific sound you would like to have brought back or e-mailed to you, just drop Steve a line.

I just wanted to post here a reminder for people who are relatively new to the Sound of the Day. The theme (that is to say the song, style, narrator, etc...) for the show changes every month. If you like a previous theme, let me know! We're planning a retrospective at some point where old themes will be revisited and new partial-month themes might be introduced. Your feedback will help decide which themes will be brought back and your suggestions for styles and sounds is always welcome.

Thanks for listening!
