Still working...

I had fully anticipated having some music to put in your ears by now, but it seems I'm still working to make that happen. Fear not, for I have not given up hope and neither should you. I have decided to start writing new music and will impregnate it with Sounds both old and new.

Oh, and it seems the world is a brighter place these days... Babe the Blue Ox seem to be making new music. Life is very good.

Holy Snikes, It's Been a LONG Time Gone!

After needing a long break after wearing myself out from doing a daily podcast, I'm back to start anew with Sound of the Day! The dailies are probably not going to be part of the new plan, but I do want to start promoting sounds and creating new songs.

I think the first item on my "get back in the saddle" agenda is going to be to gather together all the theme songs written for the Sound of the Day podcast and make them available to everyone as a loop for you to use on your own projects with outtakes (if and when they are available and interesting). BTW: If you end up liking any of these works, let me know. If you have need of a theme song for your podcast or other project, drop me a line and I'm sure we can work something out.

Watch this space for updates in the next couple of days including the first few themes available (as mentioned above) for download and the usual open CC licensing.

Sound of the Day Podcast - Things are a-changing!

As you might have noticed with all the previously-released Sounds and lag times between posting dates and reality, Sound of the Day in its current state has been coming (lurching?) to an end. But that doesn't mean that it's going away... Oh no no no, heavens no!

We're currently under a process of rejuvenation and reinvention that will most likely mean fewer podcasts per month, but more focused energies and enthusiasm for the podcasting genre. We're not sure exactly what form the new show will take, but we have some great ideas. One thing is certain: our dedication to fresh new Sounds and music will always be at the core of our overriding mission for this show.

We appreciate your patience as we retool and rethink our approach to podcasting. To people who have been listening since December 2004, those who just started listening recently, and everyone in between, we are truly grateful and look forward to coming back with newfound focus and dedication in the coming months. At this point, we anticipate being back online sometime in early 2007... hopefully January. In the mean time, we'll be working on bringing all the archives online and will take time to check in and see how everyone's doing from time to time.

Thanks again, as always, for listening, and here's to a fresh start and new tomorrows!

Sound of the Day Podcast - October 25 2006

It's worked a couple of times this month already, so the Sound of the Day goes back once again to December 2005 for this wonderful Sound...

There is a specific instrument we hear in the Sound of the Day podcast sound for today that is played, believe it or not, by a single person. How can it be that so many different Sounds can all be played in harmony and yet without the aid of multiple people? Do you know what instrument makes this Sound?

If you think you know what makes today's Sound, drop us a line. We would love to hear from you!

Listening to mass media will often provide access to the Sound of the Day podcast sound for today. Many modern versions of the device used to make this Sound separate channels of content so that the incidence of static has been greatly reduced, but we think that's a sad loss. Do you know what makes this Sound?
