The Sound of the Day for May 8, 2006 is a tough one to guess! It is the motor of a MiniDisc recorder (i.e. the Sound capturing hardware primarily used for the Sound of the Day) revving up. Every time we record Sounds in a quiet environment, the recorder makes this irritating noise, so we thought it fitting (however obscure) for a Sound of the Day.
